Today both Dalton and Bonnington groups went places that the Ipads couldn't go : the water! However, here are some pictures of their games playing together tonight. They are currently all watching a DVD together. Another lovely morning here and we always enjoy a good breakfast to get us ready for the day's activities. Today, Fiennes group are walking and going on the lake, Dalton group are canoeing and Bonnington are gorge walking! Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic last day of term at Tanfield Comp today. The two Steves (Barlow and Skidmore) entertained us with hilarious tales from their stories. As you can see from the video below, it was a fully interactive experience, which the children raved about on the way home! They encouraged us to believe that 'we are all writers'. My favourite part was when they said that you should write about what you know: YOU! They also took the time to talk to Leah about her 100wc post. What was your favourite part? Enjoy the video below - sorry there is no sound, but I've added a Youtube clip to make it more atmospheric! Spooky Literacy Day from Mark temple on Vimeo. My class know how much I love language! Thus, it was a very proud moment, when I clicked on the Special Showcase of the 100 word challenge website. As I scrolled down, the word 'Tanfield Lea' caught my eye. There (as if in flashing lights) was Leah P's name!
Her haunting writing (found here) is a suitably spooky affair. Its mixture of short staccato sentences, repetition and questions engage the reader and it rightly has its place on the Showcase alongside entries from Canada, Australia, America as well as around Britain. Mrs Skinner, the founder of 100WC, will send us a special e-badge to show that Tanfield Lea has been showcased. We can all be very proud of Leah's efforts as she represents the great talent of the North East! As I was walking towards the grave, I read the curly name : Florence Gills. My face dropped with shock. I looked at the writing underneath my name it read : your next. I ran back home screaming, I was terrified, truly terrified. I looked left then right but I couldn't see the gate leading back into my street. Slowly, the sky got darker. A ghost approached me with a frightening smile. "Why hello!" He whispered stroking my cheek. "I'm not afraid" I said even though I was. A tear rolled down my cheek. I was crying. Crying blood. Was I really...dead? To this day, I'm still standing there, crying blood.
